Rodarte Spring Summer 2013

Posted on | September 12, 2012 | No Comments

Rodarte is my favorite brand of all time. Ask me why? because I like the creators of the brand, I like the originality and I like the fact that their clothing is very personal. However, in the past few seasons, the collection does not seem as brilliant as before. Looking at the photos and hearing the comments after the shows such as : ” oh, we are glad Rodarte is becoming more commercial and wearable” makes me very worried.
What is happening to a brand that started off with unique pieces and I am feeling like every season they are becoming more and more commercial. I look at the target clientele of Rodarte, the editorial images and I get confused. Where is the brand heading? I hope they switch back to their originality, to their inspiration of photos and nature and personal experiences. Is “Fashion” turning these two designers, to celebrity designers with less artistic mood?
My favorite looks this season:

  • About Me

My name is Hamideh Abol, I am a designer/ textile artist located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Shefelt.ca is my blog where I write about my life, my inspirations, and my everyday challenges as a designer. Term "Felt" in shefelt refers to a non-woven cloth that is produced by matting, condensing and pressing woolen fibres and that is the main medium for my designs. I hope you enjoy my website.
